The Libraria n read a letter sent to Mr .. Green by Mr. Herbert Hersh
requestin g the Library be open on Sub.day afternoon s.
The following points were
'
brought out in discussio n: this has b~en discussed many thnes over the years
but it has never been possible to work it out, and, at this time, with the minimum
staff under which this Library is operating it is almost impossib le to add these
hours.
The question was asked of how many it would take to staff the Library
for Sunday afternoon .
The answer was a minimum of ten - two in Adult Services ,
two in Children 1 s, one or two pages in each departme nt, three in Circulati on
Departm ent and a custodian .
It was the consensu s that a reply should be sent
stating we would like to study this situation rather than a statemen t of the
impossib ility of doing so.
Miss Radmach er was asked if she would consider
using any extra people who may have been librarian s at one time.
Her reply
was that Skokie Public Library is always glad to receive applicati ons and talk
with any applicant .

To date two letters have been received in reply to Mr. Green s letter
asking for represen tatives to make up a Citizens Advisory Committ ee on
- 4 -
Library Services, one from the League of -women Voters and one from the
Chamber of Commerce, each listing four names.
Comment from guest Mr. Mocking - recommend thinking
about Sunday
opening - perhaps because of tJ:ie short hours of the school librarians they
might be interested in working Sunday afternoon.
There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned at
8:30 p. m. on motion by Mr. Erickson.
